The location, and the kindness of the staff
The extra bed was an inflatable mattress, and for the price it shouldn't be.

Fantastic hotel, loved the original artwork on the walls, very attentive service, lovely food. We were dropping our daughter off to start University on the Monday at Merton College, right next door and it could not have been more convenient. Parking provision also very useful. You cannot book tables at the hotel restaurant in advance but hotel guests are given priority - we were seated almost immediately both nights with a party of 6 each time, ourselves and other friends also dropping off daughters that weekend. A great start to a university career - for all of us!
The ensuite tea and coffee making facilities required that you had to ask for fresh milk from reception - inconvenient and did not like to trouble them - think a few uht sachets at least as an option would be useful addition. Did ask lady who was replenishing supplies but they are not available.

Ideal location, quiet, excellent staff. Free parking, free wifi. Good restaurant. We would stay again.
Just minor things. Not the easiest place to find arriving by car. The only signposting was when you were very close to the hotel. Our satnav didn't cope very well with Oxford's restricted access roads- not the hotel's fault- but something you may need to factor in to your planning. We appreciated the free wifi but in our room the signal strength was very poor.

We ate at a lovely restaurant which was clearly very popular with a really lively atmosphere and very good food. The staff was superfriendly and the views were wonderful. The location was marvellous, at a medium distance from The Bridge. Plus it was in a nice area.

Liked our extremely pleasant and well-appointed rooms in this place.
We didn't have time, so stayed here only for 2 nights, even so everything was very good. The room we had included climate control, nice sheets and it's own balcony. There was lovely bed, extremely helpful and really helpful staff at the reception desk...

Convenient, low-key. Helpfulness of staff in getting taxis etc.
I really did not like being asked for a tip by reception when checking out. It was crass and ruined the feeling of being a guest. I stay in comparable hotels in the us and uk and have never had this happen. It made for a very awkward moment and left a bad impression.
